The Devon and Cornwall Chinese Association is a non-political, non-religious organisation formed to serve and represent the interests of those members of the Chinese community who recognise a common set of needs and wish to take positive action to achieve these aspirations.

DCCA’s main assignments are to enhance liaison between the Chinese community and the wider world, campaign for better benefits, organise recreational activities for the community.  We work closely with key organisations across the South West  to promote positive working relationships so to create a culture of mutual respect and understanding.

We raised £24,076 for NHS Charities and for those in need of PPE masks.

During the UK lockdown, we united through social media and sponsored works to raise money to help buy in 34,000 PPE masks from Hong Kong to donate to those in need, including; frontline workers for those in domiciliary care, shielded individuals, charities working with the vulnerable etc.

Most of the masks have now been gifted to the Council, completely free of charge so that they can be distributed to local organisations, voluntary groups and charities on the front line of the Coronavirus pandemic who may not have the funds for such a quantity of PPE.  The rest of the £13,277.44 from the funds raised has been donated to NHS Charities Covid-19 Appeal.

Our efforts and donations will never be able to repay the millions of frontline workers and lives that have been lost during this unprecedented time.  We aim to continue to spread kindness and positivity to those around us.  We believe, small actions will become prominent when we work together as one.
